Springtime on the Farm, "the well"

Each spring brings new project on the farm.  This year is no different.  Over the winter time I had a heat lamp in my well pump house burn out mid way through the winter.  Well, that froze up the pump line, and cracked the cast iron pump.  So, spring time brings around fixin' time.  Now I get to install a new pump, and pull the old one out.

Now, the hard part is getting the piping off the old pump.  It has been welded on by all the muck and rust within the piping, I had to put a 6 foot extender on the pipe wrench just to break it free, which also meant I had to pull the old pump and piping out of the pump house, which is a bit more disconnecting then I wanted to do.  But that wasn't too bad.

Next big issue is getting the new pump and old piping to hold a prime.  I am now replacing parts piece by piece because they are no longer holding suction.  This is a drawn out process when the nearest store is 40 minutes away.  Have to wait for church days to go into town!

Twice now I have gone to the store and brought back the wrong part.  3rd time the charm?  We will see.
